It’s good to be home in Southern Nevada.

Yes, this is my hometown! Las Vegas really does have a wetlands area that is the home of many traveling birds.

I just returned from a six-day stay in Los Angeles.  The pace of LA led me to so much appreciate the quietness of Las Vegas.  The real Las Vegas that is home to families and wild life.  The skies tonight were incredibly beautiful with clouds and golden trim.  I was so happy to see them as I looked up, I couldn’t even bother to get my camera.  Tomorrow…I’ve been away from my blogging and missed all the connections and inspirations.  Now in the comfort of my own studio at home I can focus on what this is all about for me. I do miss my lovely young family in that wildly hyper place.  But for now, I am home and focusing on life beyond my darling 22-month-old grandson.

  1. Beautiful! I will be taking my 87 year old cousin to visit our 90 year old cousin in Henderson in a couple of months & except for a day casino hopping, we want to go exploring & visit places we’ve never been – like the Grand Canyon. She cannot go river rafting or horseback riding but can walk gentle trails for a couple of miles.Any recommendations for day trips from Henderson or a couple of over-nighters?

    1. Hi! I wrote a reply to you but I don’t think it went through, so here is another go at it. So glad you are coming to LV when the weather will be awesome. For indoor history about our area you might really enjoy the Springs Preserve. It is located on the actual place where there was a spring that nourished the animals and ancient people. This museum is incredible and it speaks to culture, nature, geology, history…top drawer place. I would go here on a weekend to avoid field trips with students. You would need 2-3 hours minimum. There is a restaurant here, too.
Another place is Zion National Canyon in Utah. It is breathtakingly beautiful. You can even stay in a hotel outside of the park. You could make this a one-day excursion, but you’d have to leave early.
Locally, we have the Las Vegas Wetlands and Red Rock Canyon. Red Rock is located due west of town and is a favorite place internationally.
Hope this helps. Take care. Jeanne
